5 Things to Keep in Your Vehicle for Emergencies

Driving your car is such a routine activity, that we tend not to give too much thought to it. As you are on the road, many things can happen. You can encounter unexpected conditions, get in an accident, etc. Are you prepared for the possibilities? Here are a few things to keep in your vehicle to help you prepare for anything that you may encounter.

1 – Insurance Information

Most insurance companies provide you with a postcard-sized card that contains essential information. If you are in an accident, you will need to share this with others involved in the accident. Keep this card in your glove box to make that process easier.

2 – Roadside Assistance Information

Roadside assistance is only useful if you actually know who to call when you’re in trouble. There are many different options that may be available. If your car is fairly new, the manufacturer may offer a program under their warranty. Some dealerships offer this as well as a perk of buying from them. If you purchased an extended warranty, most include roadside assistance in their packages. Lastly, you may have purchased third party services from companies like AAA. Keep this information in your glovebox so you know exactly who to call in case of a roadside emergency.

4 -Snow Brush & Gloves

Massachusetts weather can be unpredictable. Sometimes snow storms come early in October, and other times it extends late into April. It’s a good idea to always be prepared by keeping a snow brush and gloves in your trunk. Don’t get caught driving an unsafe vehicle with snow or ice blocking the lights, windows, or windshield. Always be prepared with these two items in your car.

5 – Emergency Kit

One of the most important things to keep in your car is an emergency kit. If your car breaks down on the road, this kit can help you survive until help arrives. Here are some things that your it might include:

  • Road Flares or Reflective Hazard Sign
  • Jumper Cables
  • Multi-purpose Tool
  • First Aid Kit
  • Flashlight
  • Gloves
  • Blanket
  • Cord/Rope
  • Water and Non-perishable Snacks

Summary of Things to Keep in Your Vehicle

Staying safe on the roads means being prepared for anything that you might come across. Whether you are in trouble or you encounter someone else who is, having these essential items in your car can be a huge help. It may even help save lives. We hope these tips will help you stay safe on the roads!
